WEATHER FORECAST - IMPORTANT REMINDERS

Given the weather forecast for Sunday, May 21st either some or all matches may be interrupted by rain.

Considering this possibility, your specific attention is drawn to the following ACL Rules for all Division (1, 2, 3) league games. T20 league teams should refer to T20 specific league rules document.

  • 3.2.10. In case of a delayed start, the umpire and both the captains should agree to the start time of the game and the number of overs to be bowled per innings. If it is reserved field then the reservation time needs to be considered. The maximum overs per inning cannot be modified once the game has started.

  • 3.4.2. The regular game will be played for 15 overs per innings. The first innings will consist of maximum allotted overs of 15 and minimum of 8. For rain-delayed start, the number of overs will be reduced to account for lost time. For example: for a 10-minute delayed start, the match will consist of 14 overs per innings.

  • 3.6.2.3. Umpires will decide the starting time of the game based on the playing conditions and ground availability.

Umpires and Captains have to ensure that if the field is in playable condition then the game has to start at 8.30 AM or 11.30 AM, as applicable. If both the Captains are willing to start the game, the Umpires should forthwith commence the game. In case of a delayed start, the number of overs should be curtailed per the guidance provided by Rule 3.4.2. Strict adherence to this Rule is requested.

Games starting at 8.30 AM have to be completed by 11.30 AM. Games starting at 11.30 AM have to be completed by 2.30 PM. Teams are not allowed to reschedule games to a later time to complete the match. Once a game has started, the pitch area should not be moved because of soggy and muddy conditions, unless, both the Captains have pre-agreed and reached an understanding before the start of the game. Under all circumstances, the ground category for a game should be maintained throughout the game. ACL does not encourage playing on grass pitches.

Since there are no more reserve days for Division leagues, Teams will split the points, in case a particular match is cancelled or not completed due to rain. Umpires should communicate and record all delayed starts and the reduced number overs with the respective Division Weekend Coordinator via email before the game commences.
